About Steven

Steven Estepp is in his 30th year serving education.

Steven began his career as a high school English and video production teacher in the Dublin City Schools and began his administrative experience in the Newark City Schools, serving as Communications/Broadcast Manager. In this position, Steven was a catalyst in the development of the school district’s communications department.

In 2002, Steven moved to the Hilliard City School District as a high school assistant principal. He piloted the restructuring of the school into smaller learning communities – implementing several initiatives aimed at improving student achievement.

In the fall of 2006, Steven became the principal of Weaver Middle School in the Hilliard City School District, and by the conclusion of his tenure as principal, every student subgroup at Weaver Middle School showed growth on all state assessments for the first time in school history.

Steven then served as the director of secondary education for the Hilliard City Schools beginning in 2008 and later became the assistant superintendent/executive director of K-12 curriculum & instruction in 2011. Steve led the district academically, earning the district consistent ratings by the State of Ohio as Excellent with Distinction, achieving the highest performance index scores in district history, and earning the highest value added score in the state.  He also led the charge to open the district’s Innovation Campus to offer personalized, 21st century learning experiences for all students.

Steven became the superintendent of Mariemont City Schools in July 2013. He led the development of Destination 2026, a strategic plan to chart the instructional future of the school district. This comprehensive report encompasses the work of nearly 50 teachers, administrators, parents, and business leaders and serves as the instructional blueprint for the Mariemont City School District.

Steven’s passion for creating the student experience remains the cornerstone of his work, evidenced by Warriors BEyond, the district's flagship program for student opportunities offered to amplify the curriculum, including enrichment experiences, travel opportunities, career exploration and service learning for students at all grade levels.

Steven is also a strong advocate for mental health, and during his tenure, the Mariemont City Schools has significantly expanded its services and programming at all grade levels to support the mental health needs of students through its Warriors BEWell initiative.

Under Steve’n's leadership, the school district has established high yield instructional strategies to be used in every classroom, implemented a research-based and consistent framework for literacy and mathematics instruction, put structures in place for teacher collaboration and data analysis and launched comprehensive intervention services for students needing additional academic support.

The Mariemont City School District is consistently ranked as one of the top academically performing school districts in both the state and nation and is only one of four districts in the state to have all of its school receive National Blue Ribbon designation.

Steven led the planning, design and construction of the new Mariemont High School, an innovative state-of-the-art facility that was completed in the fall of 2021 and will serve students for years to come.

Steven believes in the importance of strong partnerships with all stakeholders of our school district. To gather feedback and input, he has established a superintendent’s advisory council and student advisory. Steven also initiated the Warrior Club to engage and involve community members who no longer have children attending our schools and the Little Warriors program to connect with families before their children begin kindergarten.

Steven resides in Terrace Park, Ohio with his wife, Amy, and their children, Cameryn, Audrey and Talon.
